Semarang, CyberNews. Pengkot Taekwondo Indonesia (TI) Kota Semarang akan lebih selektif dalam menyiapkan atlet untuk berbagai even ke depan. Tujuannya agar para atlet Semarang benar-benar berpotensi bukan hanya tingkat provinsi tetapi juga nasional bahkan internasional.

Ketua Umum Taekwondo (TI) Semarang Djoko Sisdhamin mengatakan, TI Semarang berobsesi mencetak atlet nasional bahkan internasional dari daerah ini. Hal ini sejalan dengan program Wali Kota Semarang Soemarmo HS agar daerah ini bisa sejajar dengan daerah-daerah lain di Indonesia termasuk dalam urusan mencetak atlet.

Seperti diketahui, melalui olahraga bisa mengangkat nama daerah, bangsa, dan negara. "TI Semarang akan berupaya mencari potensi yang ada untuk dikembangkan menjadi atlet yang diandalkan baik provinsi, nasional, dan internasional. Oleh karena itu kami akan lebih selektif untuk memperhatikan kualitas atlet memalui berbagai faktor seperti usia, dan kemampuan lain," kata Plt Ketua Umum KONI Kota Semarang itu.

Dikatakan, upaya untuk mencetak atlet internasional dari Semarang sudah terlihat. Pada SEA Games 2009 lalu, beberapa taekwondoin Ibu Kota Jateng itu mampu menyumbangkan medali bagi Indonesia. Di level nasional, para taekwondoin Semarang juga banyak menyumbang medali bagi tim Jateng dalam Kejurnas tahun ini di Malang. Sedangkan dalam tingkat provinsi, Kota ATLAS berhasil meraih juara umum Porprov di Solo 2009 lalu.

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Pasangan petenis Indonesia Ayu Fani Damayanti/Jessy Rompies gagal maju ke final Turnamen ITF Women Circuit Port Pirie di Australia, Kamis.

Pada turnamen berhadiah total 25 ribu dolar AS itu Ayu Fani dan Jessy harus mengakui ketangguhan unggulan kedua Melanie South/Remi Tezuka (Inggris/Jepang) 6-3, 3-6 (8-10) pada pertandingan yang sebenarnya berlangsung imbang.

Seperti dikutip dari situs resmi Federasi Tenis Internasional (ITF), sebelumnya di perempatfinal Ayu/Jessy menundukkan pasangan tuan rumah Australia Daniella Dominikovic/Hayley Ericksen 6-3, 7-5.

Sedangkan pada babak pertama mereka menundukkan pasangan Australia-Turki yakni Alison Bai/Pemra Ozgen 2-6, 6-4 (10-5).

Kehadiran kedua petenis Indonesia dalam turnamen ini sebagai ajang pemantapan mereka dalam persiapan ke Asian Games di Guangzhou China pada November mendatang.

Pada semifinal lainnya unggulan keempat Bobusic/Hubacek (Australia) menumbangkan unggulan pertama Mirkovic/Radionova (Australia/Rusia) 6-3, 6-0.

Di nomor tunggal langkah Ayu Fani Damayanti terhenti di babak ketiga dan harus mengakui keunggulan petenis Turki Pemra Ozgen 4-6, 1-6 sehingga gagal ke perempatfinal atau delapan besar.

MULTI-titled coach Norman Black intends to form the country’s men’s basketball team for the 2011 Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia as early as possible.

Although he has yet to figure out the composition of the squad out to defend the basketball gold for the eighth straight time, Black said the team must be given enough time to play together and become one cohesive unit before the 50th edition of the SEA Games in November next year.

Gracing the PSA Forum at Shakey’s UN Ave. yesterday, Black admitted he has already accepted the coaching position offered to him by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.

"The SBP asked me to coach the RP team to the SEA Games and I already said yes," he said in the public service program backed by Outlast Battery, Shakey’s and Pagcor.

Fresh from steering the Ateneo Blue Eagles to a third straight UAAP title, Black said has yet to discuss with the SBP the mechanics in forming the national team.

"I haven’t talk about it with the SBP until now (yesterday). But we definitely have to go into training early. We have to chose and form the team early. We have to do whatever is necessary," said Black, one of the pro league’s most versatile import and third winningest coach in the history of Asia’s first ever play-for-pay league, including a rare grand slam with San Miguel Beer in 1989.

The country hasn’t lost the basketball gold in the SEA Games since 1991, successfully defending it in the 2007 edition of the biennial meet in Thailand with a team bankrolled by Harbour Centre that crushed the opposition by a winning margin of 43 points.

TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta -  Keinginan PSSI memainkan pemain keturunan Indonesia pada laga persahabatan Indonesia melawan Uruguay, Jumat, tidak akan kesampaian. Pasalnya, berdasarkan aturan FIFA, para pemain ini tidak bisa dimainkan karena belum memiliki paspor Indonesia.

“Sesuai regulasi FIFA, mereka tidak bisa bermain karena tidak mempunyai paspor Indonesia,” kata Sekretaris Jenderal PSSI, Nugraha Besoes. Ia mengaku, PSSI telah mendapat surat dari FIFA yang ditandatangani sekretaris jenderal FIFA menyatakan tidak bisa meluluskan permintaan PSSI untuk memakai pemain keturunan itu.

Pertandingan dua negara ini merupakan pertandingan resmi di bawah FIFA. Apabila pemain keturunan itu tetap dimainkan, kedua tim nasional akan rugi karena tidak bisa mendapat poin dari pertandingan ini dan dianggap seperti permainan biasa. “Sayang kan sudah mendatangkan Uruguay mahal-mahal tapi pertandingannya biasa-biasa saja. Rugi buat kita rugi buat Uruguay juga." kata Nugraha.

Ketua Badan Tim Nasional (BTN) PSSI, Imam Arif, sejak awal tahu adanya aturan larangan itu. Namun, ia tetap mendatangkan pemain keturunan, Jhony Rudolf van Beukering, Tobias Waisapy, Rafael Guilermo Eduardo Maitimo dan Sergio van Dijk. “mengenai status mereka nanti sebagai pemain atau bagaimana, itu kembali ke PSSI, tugas saya mencari formatur terbaik untuk melawan Uruguay,” katanya.

Keinginan PSSI memainkan pemain keturunan pada laga penting dua negara terasa aneh. Bukankah sejak awal mereka mengetahui regulasi itu. Pemain Indonesia yang bermain di klub-klub cukup banyak, apakah semua pemain itu tidak ada yang layak sehingga mesti mendatangkan pemain dari luar negeri.

Imam Arif berkilah ide naturalisasi itu adalah target jangka pendek untuk bisa menjuarai AFF (Federasi Sepak Bola ASEAN) Desember mendatang dan SEA Games 2011 nanti. “Awalnya ingin mencari pemain Indonesia di luar negeri ternyata tidak banyak, yang banyak pemain asing keturunan Indonesia yang berniat main di tim nasional,” katanya.

Jika akhirnya pemain keturunan batal dimainkan, Nugraha mengaku tidak rugi karena mereka bisa mengenal sepakbola Indonesia. Sisi positif lain, lanjut Nugraha, kehadiran mereka menunjukkan keseriusan PSSI melakukan naturalisasi. Menurutnya, pemain itu tahu kemungkinan resiko batal main.

Di sisi lain, tim Uruguay telah menggelar latihan tertutup di GOR Soemantri Brojonegoro, Rabu (6/10). Di antara belasan pemain Uruguay, tampak bintang Ajax Amsterdam Luis Suarez. Latihan siang itu dipimpin langsung pelatih Oscar Tabarez. Namun, pemain terbaik Piala Dunia 2010, Diego Forlan yang dijadwalkan ikut bertanding belum bergabung dengan tim.

Social games are mostly played for the sake of ’socializing’ with others. The games are usually easy to play. You don’t need to have the skills. All you’ve got to spare is just a little time. It’s relying more on the fun and sharing part rather than in competing with others.

Facebook is the most popular destination for online games, with 83% of respondents saying they have played games there. Twenty-eight percent have purchased in-game currency with real-world money (note: and I know someone in the office who did this! :D ). The average gamer has played six social games, and more than 50% of gamers started playing a game because a friend recommended it or because they saw a friend playing it in a news feed or other social stream.*

So, what’s the future of social gaming?

Seeing how mobile phones are penetrating Indonesian market, it’s also important for game developers to make their games accessible via mobile phones or, to a lesser extent, iPads.

Monetizing the game and get people to actually purchase in-game-currency (like Playfish credit) for instance, is another thing to look at. In Indonesia, where many people are not that familar with using credit cards to buy in-game-currency, you might want to consider other channels. Working with telco companies and using phone credits to buy in-game-currency can be an option.

So what about brands trying to use social games for promotional/educational purposes? Well, there’s a quick option to sponsor an existing social game, though you have only limited influence there—because you can only follow the path that has been set up previously. Another option is to build a social game from scratch—which could be an ideal way of doing it since you know that you’ll be able to design it to match your brand/products/services and promotional/marketing objectives. But of course, this could be quite expensive.

There’s a huge opportunity for Indonesian social game developers to design a game that can attract multiple sponsors (especially in a big industry: fashion/make-up/lifestyle, culinary) and can be used for promotional purposes. For instance, something like Japan’s Poupee dressing-up game.

What about having a social game where fashion brands can buy their own ’store’ and upload mini pictures of their collections? Players can visit the stores, choose from the range of collections available and dress their avatar in branded clothes? What about fashion brands or clothing lines sponsoring a virtual fashion show? Virtual model search? What if the real person who plays this game can actually go to Zara and buy the real Zara blazer, entering the code number or receipt ID, and can get “limited edition items” in the social game realm?

What if a player loves to dress their avatar in Levi’s jeans and becomes well-known as the ‘game expert’ in jeans apparel? Will Levi’s provide discounts for this player? What’s the possibility of aspiring designers to upload mini pictures of their work and ‘rent’ a store inside the game itself? What will happen if you link the game to Facebook, to Twitter? Can you do a make-over for a friend’s avatar—where a clothing line will sponsor a make-over competition and the winner will get a voucher to dress-up a friend in real life? What if the sponsor can upload the actual make-over process to YouTube?

Brands can also consider having a simplified ’social game’ via location-based services/apps; something like ticket-hunt, for instance. Or ‘mayorship’ competition to reward your most frequent customer with a certain grand prize.

Social gaming is still evolving, and there are still lots of possibilities that you can explore. To date, several big brands have invested in social games, from Disney, Google, to MTV Network. So it’s an area you might want to look at more closely to keep you in the game.

Avalon Online, developed by Movon and serviced in Korea through We Made Entertainment, is starting its first CBT in Indonesia. The test will last from September 16th to October 4th under the local name of "Avanlon Heroes." PT. Lyto Datarindo Fortuna (aka Lyto) is in charge of publishing Avalon Online in Indonesia. Lyto is an Indonesian online game publisher established in 2003 that has published numerous Korean MMORPGs, those of which include Ragnarok Online, Crossfire, and Seal Online. In external ballistics, point-blank range is the distance between a firearm and a target of a given size such that the bullet in flight is expected to strike the target without adjusting the elevation of the firearm. In forensics and popular usage, point-blank range has come to mean extreme close range (i.e., target within about a meter (3 ft) of the muzzle at moment of discharge but not close enough to be an actual contact shot). Gunshot wounds from point-blank are identified by extensive powder burns as well as tissue damage from perforation by unburned grains of gunpowder

The term point blank range is of French origin. The center of a target was once a small white spot and the French for white is blanc, and aim is point. The term therefore means "aim at the center of the target." [2]

The term originated with the techniques used to aim muzzleloading cannon. The barrels of the cannon tapered down from breech to muzzle, so that when the top of the cannon was held horizontal, the bore actually sat at an elevated angle. In addition, the firing of the gun caused the muzzle to elevate slightly due to recoil, and this would result in an upward movement by the shot even in a cylindrical cannon. This caused the shot to rise above the natural line of sight very soon after leaving the muzzle, and later dropping below the line of sight due to the curved trajectory of the shot.

By firing a given projectile and charge in the cannon, the distance at which the shot fell below the bottom of the bore could be measured. This distance was considered the point blank range. Any target within the point blank range required the gun to be depressed; any target beyond the point blank range required the gun to be elevated, up to the angle of greatest range, which happens somewhat before 45 degrees of elevation.

The point blank range varies significantly with not only the ballistics of the gun, but also its shape, as it is shape that determines the natural line of sight on which point blank range is based. Various cannon of the 19th century had point blank ranges from 250 yards (12 lb howitzer, 0.595 lb (0.270 kg) powder charge) to nearly 1075 yards (30 lb carronade, solid shot, 3.53 lb (1.60 kg) powder charge).

Small arms are often sighted-in so that the sight line and bullet path are within a certain acceptable margin out to the longest possible range, called the maximum point blank range. The range of distance inside the maximum point blank range is greatly dependent on the external ballistics of the cartridge in question; high velocity rounds have long point blank ranges, while slow rounds have much shorter point blank ranges. Other factors in the point blank range are the target size (which determines how far above and below the line of sight the trajectory may deviate), the height of the sights, and an acceptable drop before a shot is ineffective.

Maximum point blank range for hunting
A large target, like the vitals area of a deer, allows a deviation of a few inches (as much as 10 cm) while still ensuring a quickly disabling hit. A varmint such as a prairie dog requires a much smaller deviation, less than an inch (about 2 cm). The height of the sights has two effects on point blank range. If the sights are lower than the allowable deviation, then point blank range starts at the muzzle, and any difference between the sight height and the allowable deviation is lost distance that could have been in point blank range. Higher sights, up to the maximum allowable deviation, push the maximum point blank range further from the gun. Sights that are higher than the maximum allowable deviation push the start of the point blank range out from the gun; this is quite common on varmint rifles, where close shots are never made, as it places the point blank range out to the expected range of the targets.

Maximum point blank range for military use
This sight setting for maximum point blank range is also referred to in the military as Battle Zero. Soldiers are instructed to fire at any target within this range by simply placing the sights on the center of mass of the enemy target. Any errors in range estimation are tactically irrelevant as a well-aimed shot will hit the torso of the enemy soldier. The current trend for elevated sights and higher velocity cartridges in assault rifles is in part due to a desire to extend the maximum point blank range, which makes the rifle easier to use.

Calculating point-blank range
A projectile falls due to gravity once it leaves a weapon barrel. All objects at
the same geographic location fall with the same acceleration, denoted g, roughly 9.8 m/s² (32 ft/s²). Velocity is a vector; the vertical component of any projectile's velocity can be treated separately from the horizontal component. If the barrel is horizontal and at height h above the ground, then Newton's Equations of Motion can be used to show that the range is approximately \scriptstyle v \sqrt\frac{2h}{g}, where v is the muzzle velocity. This calculated range is reduced by air resistance. The air resistance depends on at least the frontal area of the projectile, the drag coefficient, air density and obviously the speed of the projectile -- making the problem a differential equation.
