NPC Indonesia Gelar Pemusatan Latihan Posted: 01 Oct 2010 06:35 AM PDT Jelang Asian Para Games Guangzhou China NPC Indonesia Gelar Pemusatan LatihanSolo, CyberNews. "Persaingan memang berat. Tapi saya harus berusaha, minimal masuk empat besar," tandasnya. (Gading Persada/CN26) |

RWC 2010 Jakarta Indonesia Pre Event | GmTristan.com Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:30 AM PDT Landed today, Thursday, September 30, together with Team Naked Babies (Shivans), GM Shiro and my boss, GM Jake on Jakarta to attend and root for our country as the Philippine Team competes for the Ragnarok World Championships 2010. Here’s our adventures (in photos, so far…) RWC 2010 Jakarta, Thursday (with Team Philippines) Our plane, below getting ready to depart. 7am at Centennial Airport, Manila… We finally land in Jakarta (above). Team Philippines poses with GM Shiro (left) and GM Jake San Diego (right). I’m taking the photos, obviously. Duh! We then take a 1 hour ride from the airport to check in at our hotel, Novotel which is just above the venue (Jitech). There’s also a mall below. Convenience! I check in my room and eat the free “empanada” from the PAL flight. I was so thirsty that I wanted to drink the Coke from the mini-bar and just replace it later with another canned Coke. Lo and behold… I couldn’t do it coz the hotel placed stickers on all the things in the mini-bar… evil hotel, you! *grin* So we just went to this “cool” coffee shop to have coffee and snacks. That’s a Tiramisu Donut! Heavenly! nomnomnom FOOD ADVENTURES As is my standard practice whenever in a foreign country, I simply must taste their streetfood and local cuisine. It’s an “adventure” I look forward too whenever I travel (and yes, flying is not an exciting thing to look forward to, thank you). Anyways, I took a stroll with some of the Team PH kids and we discovered these finds below… Mie Goreng – Para syang lomi na noodles. Halo-halo, beef, chicken, sausage, shirp, etc. It’s spicy hot. Real filling. Around 20,000RP (mga PHP100). Sulit! This is the Indonesian “San Miguel”. Bintang beer is the most famous beer (at least that’s what the waiter told me). It’s dry, light and crisp. I like! The best find of the night (above). “Red Soda” – 10,000RP (50 pesos). It’s Sprite, milk, strawberry syrup, sugar syrup and ice! Parang lipstick na may gatas! Ang sarapppp! That was a fun night! Notch one up for the first day. Tomorrow, me and the kids have some free time, we plan to go to some “ruins” and maybe visit the theme park here and go to some other historical places before we go to the drawing of lots and see the brackets and rival teams that we’ll have to face. Wish us luck! Oh yes, cars here are left-hand driven. It just takes some getting used to… they drive on the wrong side of the road. But Indonesians are all smiles and very helpful. Our hosts and guide, LYTO of Indonesia have been so helpful. Thanks so much! And yes, there are a lot of tagalog words that they also use in Bahasa… like… Selamat! |

25th SEA Games Closing Ceremony (3) | Winter Games 2010 ... Posted: 30 Sep 2010 10:03 AM PDT Kabar Baik…! You got that right. I believe opening ceremony to be held in Bandung or Jakarta. Palembang proposed the opening of SEA Games Indonesia 2011 to be held there. It’s not decided yet. Singapore supposed to host in 2013, but they fail. Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Phillippines proposed to be the host. However Phillippines and Thailand is unlikely to be awarded since they just recently hosted the games in 2005 and 2007. The 2013 host probably Myanmar or Vietnam. |

(junius/sir) |

Black to Coach RP team in SEA Games Posted: 27 Sep 2010 10:45 AM PDT By WAYLON GALVEZ | Manila Bulletin MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo's multi-titled mentor Norman Black is set to be named head coach of the national team in next year's Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia. A ranking official of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) said the 52-year-old Black was the top choice from a short list of coaches because of his achievements, particularly the past five years with the Blue Eagles in the UAAP. "He will be named as coach of the national team," said the source who asked not to be named as the 73rd UAAP best-of-three Finals is ongoing, which the reigning two-time champion Ateneo is currently leading opposite Far Eastern University, 1-0, after winning Game 1 (72-49) over the weekend. SBP executive director Noli Eala confirmed that Black, who won numerous titles in the PBA and considered as one of the greatest imports ever to have played in Asia's first play-for-pay league, is one of the top candidates with FEU coach Glenn Capacio. "We're not going to make any announcement until after the collegiate season. But we're leaning on either Norman Black or Glenn Capacio depending on the outcome of the UAAP Finals," said Eala. However, the same source mentioned that Capacio has already declined the job and instead, offered support as part of the coaching staff. According to Eala, he believes that Black is interested, but will need clearance from the Ateneo management should he be the one appointed for the post. Eala also pointed to Black's coaching experience, including a 'Grand Slam' championship he won with with San Miguel Beer in 1989, and a coaching stint with the national team during the 1994 Asian Games in Hiroshima, Japan. That team, composed of the core of All-Filipino champion SMB led by Allan Caidic and reinforced by Alvin Patrimonio, as well as amateur standouts like Marlou Aquino and Kenneth Duremdes, lost in the bronze medal game against Japan. Black is the third winningest coach in the 36-year history of the PBA with 10 championships, 9 with SMB and one with Sta. Lucia Realty. The national team hasn't lost the SEA Games basketball gold since 1991, defending its title seven straight times. The last RP team to win it came in 2007 during the Nakhonratchasima Games where the Harbour Centre backed Nationals – coached by Junel Baculi – won games by an average winning margin of 43.0 points. The game was not included in the 2009 Laos Games. (Tempo Sports) |
