Watched the football game live! Philippines vs. Indonesia – Suzuki ... Posted: 16 Dec 2010 11:54 AM PST We watched the game live at the Bung Karno Stadium, Jakarta! And what an experience! It was my 2nd time to watch a football game in that stadium, and the first time we said we should see a game when the Indonesian team is playing – just for the experience! (They take football very seriously here – it’s like an Ateneo La Salle game twentyfold – or maybe fiftyfold!) At that time, we were not thinking about the Philippines getting into the Semi-finals of the Suzuki Cup yet. Little did we know that they would and our first time to watch a game with Indonesia is against the Philippines!
Why game stores in Indonesia sucks balls » Jozdrumz Posted: 09 Dec 2010 04:21 PM PST Well, not entirely in Indonesia, since I don’t know what stores outside of Jakarta does. But in here, and especially in my area, the game stores sucks balls. And here’s why:
I’m just gonna take an example out of the 3 stores that are in my local mall. MULTI, Games Workshop, and Gamespot. Not to be confused with gamestop, or the website www.gamespot.com… They all suck, in my opinion, they lack a lot of things that are supposed to be in a video game store. Multi is a decent store, and they also sell model kits, figurines, and other hobby stuff. But in the game section, they are PS3-biased, and you probably can’t find anything else there other than PS3 accesories and games. They have a lot of things in their store, usually things that aren’t even useful to the average gamer. They only sell cheap third party equipment, and never any official licensed products. Other things that they have are probably ISOs for PSP and NDS. Yes, they actually charge you for something you can get in the internet for free. They also have pirated PS2/Wii/xbox360 games, and also sell the modded consoles. I asked them if they’ll have the kinect in the store or not sometime last week, they told me that “they don’t really sell xbox 360 items.” … Games Workshop, I went to this store since I was a kid lol, a great store. Had a lot of games and accesories back then. But they pretty much went down since the PSP/NDS got mainstream. They mostly sell ISOs for PSP and NDS as well, and also offers custom firmware upgrades for the PSP, not free of course. They lack actual games though, only a handful of PS3 games, some pirated xbox 360 games, and a lot of pirated Wii/PS2 games. They sometime sell official licensed products and things like that, they even had the kinect in stock. But the main problem is this: They overprice everything. They had a GH:5 guitar bundle, and they were selling it for 3 million rupiah, which is close to $300 and nowhere near the original price for the thing. They’re selling the kinect right now for 2.2 million, still nowhere near the original kinect price of $150, or even the Japanese price for $180. Gamespot, I don’t know if they actually have the license to use the name and logo or not, but that’s not important lol. This is the most popular/mainstream store, they have wide variety of games, consoles, and accesories. A fair amount of official products, you can rent games here (First store in Indonesia to have a game rental, though they’re mostly outdated games and no new games.) And they’re not really biased to any consoles. Sounds good at first, but here’s the downside to the store. They overprice consoles with “console packs.” And they force you to buy the console as that pack. Usually other stores offer the same, but they let you buy just the console with no addons or anything, but gamespot forces you to buy everything as a pack, which they overprice. Like a PS3, they have a pack where you get 2 controllers, an HDMI cable, 5 games, a silicon sleeve for your gamepads and a protective screen for your console. Now why the fuck would you need a protective screen for your PS3? Or a silicon sleeve for that matter, it’s not like we’re gonna rage and then throw the facking thing somewhere. That bundle was sold at 6 million rupiah, really overpriced. Oh, and this is the store where I bought the kinect, for 1.9 million, just a little over the official Japanese price. That’s pretty much what each store looks like. And on top of that, here’s a few other downsides that all the stores share. They all sell pirated games for xbox/Wii/PS2, they all sell ISOs for PSP/NDS, you can’t pre-order games, or even just order games that are out already, they usually get games really late, like a month after it’s Asian/Japanese release, and they lack games that aren’t mainstream/popular. Like, you can’t even buy/order IIDX games, or other bemani series, not even the US version of it. Now, and actual store that I love, but it’s not on my local mall, it’s in Mall Taman Anggrek, pretty far from my house. I forgot the name of the store, but they have everything you’d ever need. Official products, original games, all consoles modded or not, arcade sticks, figurines, model kits, limited edition products, AND you can pre-order games. Too bad it’s really far from my house, and going there is a hassle due to the 1 way road.
ASIAN GAMES Day 1 – Indonesia, Korea, China and Thailand to scoop ... Posted: 13 Nov 2010 05:48 PM PST The crowd had been already quite supportive with Chinese Taipei against Indonesia, but the usual Thomas Cup semi-finalists showed once again their strength. Taufik took a game to warm up and won the two next against Hsieh Yu Hsing. The expected clash between in-form Lee/Fang and Kido-Setiawan only lasted one game as the second game was suspenseless with a clear 21-9 win from the Indonesians after they had won the opener 21-19. Simon Santoso closed the deal in three games, sending Indonesia to the semi-final against China, who beat Hong Kong quite easily in three singles matches only – all in straight games. Korea, on their end, might have to prepare differently from their expectations as they will take on Thailand instead of Malaysia in the other semi-final.
